Investment philosophy

The Curate Momentum Balanced Fund is a diversified portfolio of the best investment opportunities identified by Visio’s expert team. This includes shares, bonds, listed property and cash, both locally and offshore. Through its emphasis on thorough research, Visio aims to:

  • Find investments that can be bought for less than the firm believes they are worth.
  • Look for opportunities to unlock value through engaging with companies.
  • Generate long-term returns well ahead of inflation.
  • Reduce risk for investors by scrutinising as much information as possible.
  • Always investing with a margin of safety.

Track record

Visio’s team brings specialists together in a range of areas, combining them into a unique approach to delivering returns for investors.

  • Different team members have decades of experience investing in shares, income-generating assets, and listed property.
  • The firm has been investing across international and local stock markets since its launch in 2003.
  • Visio has always had a strict focus on capital preservation and avoiding big losses.

Jonathan Myerson

Jonathan Myerson

One of South Africa’s most experienced fixed income managers, Jonathan also heads up Visio’s balanced strategy. He believes strongly in leaving no stone unturned in assessing investment opportunities and taking as much care as possible to avoid losses.

“When we make a decision, we need to be comfortable that it is based on all the information we can gather. We can never enter into an investment being 100% sure, but we want to get as close as possible to that because I know how things can go wrong.”

 Patrice Moyal

Patrice Moyal

Visio founder Patrice has always valued being innovative in looking for and exploring investment ideas. He relishes how evolving markets create continuous learning opportunities and encourages the whole Visio team to constantly expand their knowledge.

“We give our team a platform to find ideas. And the beauty of being international is that we are exposed to so many interesting people and opportunities.”

Phihlelo Matjekana

Phihlelo Matjekana

Phihlelo has been part of the Visio team since 2011. He believes that sustainable and repeatable outperformance can only be generated if a manager avoids taking excessive risks. It’s also important to have clear investment guidelines to manage your biases.

“A successful investment process has to be repeatable and easily understood.”
